Vitamin Mineral Drip Therapy

What is Vitamin Mineral Drip Therapy?

Vitamin Mineral Drip Therapy is a procedure that allows very high amounts of specific nutrients to treat and enhance multiple functions of the body. In certain cases of digestive conditions or chronic diseases, it may be beneficial to administer vitamins and minerals intravenously (IV). The advantage of administering vitamins and minerals intravenously is that they can be delivered directly to the necessary tissue and cells in very high doses. When vitamins and minerals are taken orally, the amount that actually reaches the tissue depends a lot on how well the digestive system is functioning. Moreover, when the individual cells are not healthy, they cannot absorb the necessary vitamins and minerals at lower concentration.

What Types of IV Therapies Does Dr.Ozawa Offer?

At the EO Naturopathic Clinic the doctors may customize certain nutrients based on your symptoms.

Meyers Cocktail

Administering a vitamin and mineral formula (known as the "Myers cocktail") intravenously may be useful in treating a variety of medical problems, according to a report in Alternative Medicine Review (2002;7:389–403). Although few studies have been published on this therapy, many physicians have observed its benefit in treating migraine headaches, fatigue, allergies, heart disease, acute asthma attacks, fibromyalgia, infections, and other conditions

High Dose Vitamin C Therapy

IV (intravenous) vitamin C therapy has already been clinically proven to markedly improve quality of life for cancer patients, but a new landmark study has shown for the first time it can reduce inflammation and tumor markers in prostate cancer and breast cancer patients. The science behind IV vitamin C as a cancer therapy is now advancing faster than ever before, with six clinical trials currently underway worldwide, including colorectal, prostate, pancreatic and other cancers.

Glutathione Therapy

Glutathione (GSH) is an important compound naturally present in the body from the time of birth and required until death. It plays a number of roles in the body. As an antioxidant, it neutralizes toxic free radicals and helps maintain Vitamins C and E in reduced (active) state. It also plays a role in detoxification of harmful substances in the body. Glutathione has been used to treat diseases including: Alzheimer's, cancer, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease and Lyme disease. It has been found that free radicals cause damage to the brain cells due to oxidation; glutathione is effectively used to treat such malaise. Glutathione IV in combination with Vitamin C is a popular and effective treatment for getting fairer skin. It reduces the level and distribution of melanin pigment in the skin which results in lessening of the darker tone of the skin. Since we grow old, the level of glutathione in the body depletes at the rate of about 10% every ten years. The deficiency leads to health related problems. It has been found that this deficiency can be made up by giving glutathione in an intravenous manner..

α-Lipoic Acid Therapy

IV alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is used to treat neuropathy(nerve pain) and chronic liver disease. It is a powerful antioxidant, like vitamin C and E, improves blood circulation, and helps to protect cells from oxidative damage.

Phosphatidylcholine Therapy

IV (intravenous) Phosphatidylcholine is used to treat several Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Autism, ADD, ADHD, Alzheimer disease, and Neuralgia.

• What Should I Expect During an IV (intravenous) Session?

Specific nutrients will be mixed in an IV bag, the IV line will be drawn up and a small butterfly needle will be administered into the appropriate site (usually the forearm). Some discomfort may be felt during the initial needle insertion, however our staff is trained to provide maximum comfort and the procedure is generally painless. Sessions typically last an hour or a little longer, where you may take a nap, or watch your favorite TV shows if you have a portable DVD player or a tablet device.

Chelation is a chemical process in which a metal or mineral—such as lead, mercury, or calcium—is bonded to another substance. This is a natural process that goes on continually in our bodies. However, our bodies evolved in a less polluted world and they are not prepared to handle the heavy load of environmental toxins to which they are now confronted with on a daily basis.

There are 35 metals that concern us because through occupational or residential exposure, large amounts of any of them can cause acute or chronic toxicity (poisoning). Heavy metal toxicity can result in damaged or reduced mental and central nervous function, lower energy levels, and damage to blood composition, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. Long-term exposure may result in slowly progressing physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative processes that mimic Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis. Allergies are not uncommon, and repeated long-term contact with some metals or their compounds may even cause cancer.

Heavy metals may enter the human body through food, water, air or absorption through the skin when they come into contact with humans in agriculture, or in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, industrial, or residential settings.

Chelation therapy—which employs the weak acid EDTA or DMPS—has the potential to enhance virtually everyone's health and performance because it removes lead, mercury, cadmium and other toxic heavy metals from our bodies.
